Resources Available on Request

In addition to the items active schools receive in their kits, UDS also provides limited resources that can be checked out for events or specific activities. In order to request these items, you must complete and submit the Resource Request Form. If the items are available, we will ship them to you for your event or activity. Only 3 resources may be borrowed at a time, and all items must be returned before another can be requested. We ask that you keep items for only up to 2 weeks to allow other schools the opportunity to use them.

Below is a list and description of each of the resources available for borrowing:

Item Description
Distract-a-Match This activity helps you demonstrate a person’s susceptibility to distraction and how this could interfere with their ability to perform driving tasks and increase crash risk. Many people believe they can multitask while driving without it impacting their driving ability; this activity shows the effect of distractions in a safe and fun environment.
Items Provided: Distract-a-Match mat, 8 sets of shapes, digital timer, and user guide. All items come stored in a purple drawstring bag.
Distracted Perfection This fun, easy-to-do activity quickly demonstrates a person’s susceptibility to distraction, giving you the opportunity to talk about how distractions interfere with your ability to perform driving tasks and increase crash risk. Many people believe they can multitask while driving without it impacting their driving ability; this activity shows the effect of distractions in a safe and fun environment.
Items Provided: Perfection Game and 5-Second Rule Game
Bean Bag Toss & Impaired Goggles This activity demonstrates the impacts that driving impaired can have on your reaction time and coordination.
Items Provided: impaired goggles and bean bag toss
Stop! Stack the Blocks This hands-on activity raises awareness about the dangers of speeding and helps show that the faster the speed, the more stopping distance is required. You and your peers will conceptualize the distance by stacking blocks to guess how many building stories it takes for a car traveling X miles per hour to stop to better visualize the longer stopping distances that are needed when traveling at high speeds. Use these with the speeding cards already provided in your school resource kit.
Items Provided: Set of 100 stackable blocks
Tablets The tablets contain multiple videos and one interactive game which students can complete on their own. Videos cover: passing large trucks and buses safely, stopping distances of large trucks and buses, and turning radius of trucks and buses. The interactive games have several sections and challenges. The student must answer questions correctly to get a full code to successfully complete the game.
Items Provided: Tablet, Charger, and Headphones
VR Goggles The VR goggles offer multiple modules to complete, covering some of the risks drivers will encounter. Some of the games included are the Rollover Convincer, which demonstrates seat belt safety, and the Distracted Driving video, which demonstrates the 3 main types of distractions.
