Seat Belt Safety Tips

As college students, we are always on the go, whether that be to HEB, the movies, or back and forth to campus.

No matter how quick the trip, it’s always important to buckle up every time. Here are some tips on the proper (and safe) way to wear your seat belt:

  1. The shoulder belt should be placed snugly across your chest and shoulder. Avoid placing the belt directly on your neck.
  2. Secure the lap belt across your hips and pelvic bone below your stomach. Make sure you tighten any slack on the belt.
  3. NEVER drive or ride with your seat belt behind your arm or back.
  4. NEVER drive or ride with the belt flat across your stomach.
  5. ALWAYS buckle up. Every ride. Every time.

Since it’s the new year, this is the perfect time to lay old habits to rest. Make this year’s resolution one of safer driving practices and safer habits. Always buckle up, no matter the distance.
