Krista Gehlhausen is our Featured DUDE

Krista attends Concordia University and is actively engaged in U in the Driver Seat through CTX Alive, a peer-mentoring and advocacy organization dedicated to informing students of healthy decision-making. She’s currently studying Political Science and expects to graduate May 2020.

CTX Alive partnered with U in the Driver Seat at their National Night Out Event. Krista spent the afternoon operating the new drunk driving simulation. It operated with a BAC content of 0.24 which is three times the legal limit. It’s essentially if you passed out from binge-drinking and then decided to drive.

Krista liked being able to do something interactive with all the new students at Concordia to show them how difficult and dangerous impaired driving is. A lot of the new freshmen said things to her such as, “Wow, this reminds me of last weekend.” It was good to hear their experiences with drunk driving and show them the dangers of why they should never ride with someone whose been drinking or drive while impaired. It was an opportunity for them to do something interactive while CTX Alive members talked to their peers. Krista highly recommends others use the simulator at their university or other interactive activities to drive home the safe driving message.
