The most common causes of driving crashes among our friends (ages 18 to 24) are the ones we know least about:
- Driving at night / drowsy driving
- Aggressive driving / speeding
- Distractions, such as cell phones / texting and other passengers
- Low seat belt use
- Drinking and driving
Focus groups have shown a peer-to-peer effort targeted toward our age group would be effective in communicating the driving dangers we face. Leadership teams are currently being established in six Texas college campuses to measure the success of messaging and activities in our peer groups. Pilot results will be used to improve this model and continue work in this area.
